Senegal is a generous and hospitable country, a safe and economic destination that is offered to the eyes of visitors in all its facets and contradictions, among the rhythms, colors and flavors of lively cities and in full of excitement and the relaxed atmospheres of rural villages immersed in nature, where ancient traditions are renewed daily.
A 9-day itinerary that starts from the surreal pigmentation of the Pink Lake with its dazzling salt marshes, to arrive at the colonial city of Saint Louis, with its decadent atmosphere full of charm and history, with an intermediate stop at the marvellous desert of Lompoul dunes. An unmissable nature break in the Djoudj park, a birdwatcher’s paradise, amidst the mangrove islands that the Senegal River draws as it runs towards the Atlantic, before heading inland to the revered Mouride mosque of Touba and the traditions of the Serer people in the Kaolack and green Siné-Saloum regions, dotted with clay houses and thatched-roof granaries. Finally, the chaotic capital Dakar, in perpetual turmoil, the pastel-coloured buildings and shady little squares of Gorée Island, a monument to the tragic past of the slave trade, and the fishing villages, with their colourful pirogues resting on the beach, in the magnificent coastal belt of the Petite Cote.
