The landscape and natural scenery are the real protagonists of Mauritania. Endless expanses of sand, high dunes shaped by the wind, rock formations eroded over the centuries by the elements, ancient caravan cities besieged by the sands and here and there sporadic encampments of nomadic shepherds and verdant oases, pleasant extras in this boundless and lonely space.
Kilometers and kilometers without meeting a soul, pleasantly alone in the presence of the immensity of the desert, until we reach the Adrar, the most evocative region of Mauritania. A treasure chest of ancient treasures, historic cities of sand and stone such as Chinguetti and Ouadane, whose libraries hold illuminated manuscripts of immense value and pass on the myths and legends of the nomadic peoples. This is the land of surprises, of the unexpected that enchants and conquers, and of images that remain engraved in the memory, such as the spectacular one of the dunes of the Sahara that plunge directly into the waves of the Ocean, among myriads of migratory birds.
