An ornithological paradise for birdwatchers, the Banc d’Arguin Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is considered one of the most important bird sanctuaries in the world. An estimated two million migratory birds, including flamingos, pelicans, herons, cormorants and terns, winter on the park’s sandy islands and coastline, which stretches more than 200 km north from Cape Timiris.
