A journey suspended in time, between the dunes of the Sahara and the waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Discovering ancient caravan cities, wondrous oases, solitary mosques, fascinating libraries surrounded by sand, and mysterious monoliths. Until reaching Nouadhibou with its ship graveyard and travelling back down the coast towards Nouakchott, passing through the splendid Banc D’Arguin Park.
A journey with the flavour of exploration, combining the magical atmosphere of the Sahara with the breathtaking views of the Atlantic coast. From a heartland of majestic wind-sculpted sand dunes, rocky landscapes, canyons, cliffs, splendid valleys with lush oases and ancient caravan cities that preserve precious manuscripts, to the spectacular meeting of the desert with the ocean, where the force of the waves battles the advance of the sands and the dunes yield in the face of the sea. On the coast, a true gem is the Banc d’Arguin Park (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), where myriads of migratory birds come to overwinter and breed. A corner of paradise among the most evocative along these uninhabited and wild coasts.
What’s more, on this special trip, you’ll visit the Richat structure (Guelb er Richat), also known as ‘the Eye of the Sahara’.
