The landscape and natural scenery are the true protagonists of Mauritania. Endless expanses of sand, high dunes shaped by the wind, rocky conformations eroded over the centuries by atmospheric agents, in which the oases and sporadic camps of nomadic shepherds are pleasant extras.
Kilometres and kilometres without meeting a soul, alone in the infinite spaces, under starry skies sipping desert tea, savouring the true life of the nomads, until we reach the Adrar, the most evocative region of Mauritania, an unknown treasure chest of ancient treasures, historic cities of sand and mud, illuminated manuscripts and legends of the people of the stars. And if Mauritania is the land of surprises, then the most beautiful is when the Sahara meets the Ocean and its dunes plunge straight into the waves, among myriads of migratory birds.
