In the north-eastern area of Chad, the Sahara offers one of its most unexpected and fascinating faces: the Ennedi, an imposing and morphologically very varied sandstone plateau, which gives its name to the entire region. It’s one of the most incredible wonders that nature can give in the middle of the desert!
In the Ennedi, a microclimate has been preserved that allows us to understand how in the past the Sahara was a huge fertile and rich expanse of life. Through adventurous paths, among maze of geological stratifications, dunes to overcome, gorges, cliffs and canyons all to be explored, you come to two precious jewels: the Guelta of Archei and the Ounianga Lakes, paradises of palm groves and waters that are a source of life for the dromedary caravans and for the colonies of Nile crocodiles that have lived there for centuries. An extraordinary journey that completes the visit of the Ennedi with a stop in the magnificent valley of Niola Doa, one of the most important and scenic rock art sites in the Sahara, with engravings that they represent life-size dancing female figures, with geometric decorations of fine workmanship.
