Long ravaged by civil war, after two decades of peace and reconstruction, this welcoming and contrasting land awaits the most adventurous travellers, curious to discover one of the last African destinations that is slowly opening up to international tourism.
Luanda, the capital, where the sounds of kizomba and kuduru resonate, beautifully nestled between the bay of the same name and Ilha do Cabo, is a fascinating mix of crumbling Portuguese colonial architecture and modern skyscrapers belonging to oil companies and banks, mammoth construction sites and muddy shanty towns.
The south, where mountain landscapes, desert and ocean offer visitors encounters with the inhabitants of numerous tribes who follow a traditional lifestyle: from the semi-nomadic Mumuhuila, famous for the women’s striking hairstyles and numerous colourful necklaces, to the Muhimba, related to the Himba of Namibia, from the Muhacaona aborigines to the Mucubal, related to the Herero who live between the Namib Desert and the Cunene River.
In addition, on this special departure, we will visit northern Angola, characterised by immense spaces and unexplored places, which enchants with its natural beauty, thanks to the mighty Kalandula waterfalls, the lunar landscapes of Pedras Negras de Pungo Andongo and Miraduro de Lua, the giraffes in the Kissama reserve, and the roar of the waves on Cabo Ledo beach, beloved by surfers.
