An extension to the tour that will allow you to deepen your knowledge and appreciate the peculiarities of Asmara, the “little Rome”, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, thanks to the extraordinary mixture of architectural styles that embellish its urban fabric, including avant-garde twentieth-century and bold construction techniques of Italian rationalist urbanism, reinterpreted in a local key.
From the Medebar, the old caravanserai now transformed into a lively recycling market, where old metal sheets are given new life, to the imposing Enda Mariam Orthodox Cathedral. From the Cinema Impero to the Opera House, passing by Bar Zilli and the Fiat Tagliero, the symbol of Asmara. A full immersion in a city that encompasses all the styles of the early 20th century: Cubism, Futurism, Neoclassicism, Rationalism and Expressionism, expressed in a pleasant alternation of public and private buildings that recall the memory of a past that seems to have crystallised in the 1930s.
