A journey back in time between the green Atlas Mountains and the crystal clear Mediterranean coast, in ancient Mauretania and Numidia, discovering two of the most beautiful and interesting Roman provinces in Africa, among archaeological remains of extraordinary beauty, where it is still possible to walk alone among the ruins.

Algeria’s Roman sites, all of which are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, are no match for the more famous ones in Libya. On this itinerary, we will discover the buildings of Djemila ‘the beautiful’, the ruins of Timgad, a colony founded by Emperor Trajan in 100 A.D. and Lambesi, the former home of Legio III Augusta. On the coast, the archaeological sites of Tipaza and Caesarea, which preserve splendid mosaic villas overlooking the waters of the Mediterranean, and Algiers, with its beautiful colonial palaces on the harbour and the lively streets of the Kasbah with whitewashed houses.
